BETHEL TOWN HALL

The Bethel Town Hall is one of at least 21 buildings located in the Upper Valley designed by George Gurnsey of Montpelier, Vermont. Finished in 1892, the building was home to the public library and could comfortably seat the townspeople during civic functions. In the 1930’s or 40’s a fire station was added to the downstairs. The people of Bethel used this building for school graduations, public meetings, and community center until the late 1950’s. The building was occupied on and off over the next 20 years but is not currently used.

In the summer of 2007, Summit/Catamount performed major roof and structural renovations, including re-roofing, interior structure stabilizing and exterior painting and chimney repairs.
